Chasing motivation

Let’s be honest, most of us spend more time looking for motivation than actually being motivated.  Yeah don’t leave me hanging, you know it is you too.  The inherent problem with looking for motivation, you’ll never find it.  You’d have better luck finding Sasquatch if we are being honest with each other.   There are so many sites that want to help you get motivated, find your motivation, keep you motivated.

They all suck hairy goat nuts.  They lie.

You can’t find motivation, you can’t get inspired to be motivated.  There are no magic phrases, beans or wishes that will help you with any sort of motivation.

I can give you the secret to motivation. I won’t make you pay $19.95 plus shipping and handling.  If you order in the next 10 minutes I won’t charge you a separate shipping and handling fee for more than one.

Read this blue sentence out loud.

Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.  -Carol Burnett

Now you know the secret. You.

[/media-credit] Just get the fuck out of bed.

More specifically, your choices.  That’s it.

Your choice to get out of bed, your choice to get dressed, your choice to go through the junk mail piling up, your choice to make dinner instead of ordering take out again.   Every choice you make, if you think about it right – fuels this thing we call motivation.   It’s more like endorphins. Making good choices makes you feel better, which means you continue to make good choices.

When you make poor choices, you become more depressed, its harder to make those good choices.

At any point, you can turn it around.   Instead of ‘I wish I could go back to bed, I hate my life, why can’t this day be over, try something new.  Today I got up.  I didn’t cave and I got dressed, made some toast and tea for breakfast.  I drove instead of walking, but I made it to work.

Switching your filters, creates or destroys this motivation your looking for.
